Meet Erin
I’ve always been a curious person—curious about what others are experiencing, and curious about how people can live through the same situation and make sense of it in very different ways. That curiosity is a guiding principle in my work as a therapist.
I don’t believe my role is to tell someone what to do or not do. Instead, I aim to understand how you’ve been navigating life so far—what has worked for you, what hasn’t, and why. From there, my role is to get curious with you about whether there might be another way forward that feels more supportive, sustainable, and aligned with who you want to be.
I help clients develop curiosity about their emotions, behaviors, and thinking patterns. Emotions are often framed as things to avoid or control, but I see them as our body’s most basic form of communication. When we avoid our emotions, we miss important information. In our work together, we focus on learning how to listen to emotions rather than fear them—how to make friends with them, even when they’re uncomfortable.
Many of the clients I work with come to therapy because a behavior that once helped them cope is no longer serving them. This may include struggles with eating disorders, an unhealthy relationship with exercise, or a strong focus on controlling body shape or weight. I also see clients whose avoidance behaviors developed in response to past relationship trauma or emotional pain, and who now experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem. Together, we work on building both the ability—and the belief in the ability—to tolerate discomfort and gradually let go of behaviors that no longer fit.
My approach to therapy is relational and integrative. I draw from a range of theories and tools depending on what feels most helpful in the moment, including CBT, DBT, the Renfrew Unified Treatment Model, and Natural Lifemanship training. I believe humor, genuine understanding of a client’s interests, and meaningful analogies are just as important as clinical skills when it comes to creating lasting change.
Hi!
I’m Erin!
In addition to traditional virtual or in-person talk therapy, I also offer Equine Assisted Psychotherapy for clients seeking a more experiential approach. These outdoor sessions provide an opportunity to embody the work we do in therapy and can be especially powerful for clients who feel stuck in talking alone.
Above all, I strive to honor each client’s lived experience and personal values. I work from a Health at Every Size perspective and believe that weight loss or changing our bodies does not solve problems in the long term. I am affirming of all identities and believe everyone deserves to feel supported in who they are and who they want to be.
If you’re looking for a therapist who won’t tell you what to do, and will instead walk alongside you as you explore who you are and who you want to become, I invite you to reach out.
