Individual therapy, also known as psychotherapy or counseling, is a one-on-one therapeutic process where a trained mental health professional works with a client to address personal issues, emotional challenges, and mental health concerns. This setting provides a safe and confidential space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in depth. Overall, individual therapy can be a transformative experience, offering support and guidance as clients navigate their personal journeys toward healing and growth.
While individual therapy can look different depending on who you are working with, the hallmark of individual therapy is that it is your time. Our providers strive to make individual sessions a safe space where clients can focus on their needs without worrying about how they may impact others. Individual sessions provide the benefit of a non judgmental space to talk about what ever is most relevant for you in that moment.

Erin Birely, LCPC
I have been working in the counseling field treating clients struggling with eating disorders since I completed my Masters degree from Loyola University in Maryland in 2012. I received my clinical training at Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt and after training continued to work there in the inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient units. My experiences there and afterwards have provided me with the knowledge and skills to provide the best care possible for those dealing with an eating disorder and looking for recovery.
I use an integrative approach in my therapy, working to tailor CBT, DBT, UT and Mindfulness skills into the best possible treatment for each client. I am a Baltimore native who knows and understands the unique culture that accompanies Baltimore as well.
We all struggle at different points throughout our lives, and many times it can be helpful to have an outsider to discuss our struggles with. I strive to make therapy a safe, non-judgemental space for everyone to explore and grow.

I received my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Towson University in 2019. I received clinical training in the treatment of eating disorders at the Renfrew Center of Baltimore and have continued to work with individuals on eating disorder recovery. I understand the unique needs of individuals with eating disorders and will work alongside you, your family, and other members of your treatment team as we walk together on your recovery journey. In addition to eating disorders, I enjoy working with those struggling with various mental health concerns, such as depressed mood, anxiety, and general life adjustment. I believe that everyone can benefit from the opportunity to discuss life’s many challenges and receive care and compassion as they work to create positive change in their lives.
I integrate CBT, DBT, and interpersonal techniques in my approach to therapy, and believe that everyone has the ability to fully recover. I will work with you to develop and individualized treatment plan that best fits your unique goals for therapy.
Making the choice to come to therapy is courageous. My goal is to provide a collaborative and open-minded space for my clients to grow.
